Jeff grew up on the northern California coast on a ranch north of a
small logging town known as Fort Bragg. Many of his family members
worked as loggers in the redwood forests of the area. Jeff
attended schools in both Fort Bragg and later in Santa Rosa. While
in high school, he traveled to Germany as a foreign exchange student.
Following his graduation, he once again traveled back to Germany where
he would live for another six months, eventually returning to attend
college. Jeff attended three years of college where his main
emphasis was in water quality assessment. During that time, he was
also doing both pre-cast and flat-work concrete construction.
After he finished his third year of college, he met his wife Debbie,
from the Portland area, and promptly moved to northwestern Oregon.
Jeff worked at various odd jobs
including cabinet making and truck driving. He then became
employed in the water industry. There he built, installed, and
operated and maintained commercial, industrial, and public water
systems. He obtained his water treatment certification in the mid
80’s. A request to help start up a bottled water facility later
lead to his employment as the plant manager for a bottled water company
in Portland, now known as Sierra Springs. Always looking for more
challenges, he went to work for US Filter operating an Ultra-Pure water
treatment plant serving the Semi-Conductor Industry. His big break
came when he would leave the private industry and become employed with
the Oregon Association of Water Utilities where he is employed to the
present as a Circuit Rider. Jeff travels with his truck and camper
throughout the state of Oregon assisting water systems. His
greatest joy is to help others through education and technical
assistance.
Jeff has a beautiful wife of 30
years, a son and daughter in their mid 20’s, and 4 perfect
grandchildren. There is no end to the non-work related activities
that Jeff enjoys. Fishing, hunting, and landscaping are year-round
gratification. To get further away, Jeff and his wife enjoy
backpacking in the high country of the northwest. When that isn’t
quite far enough away, Jeff and his wife enjoy trips around the world to
places such as the South Pacific and Europe. Future plans are to
travel to the Far East, Africa, and South America.
